Funeral Plan insurance offers cover to provide for the costs associated with a funeral.
Four levels of cover are offered:
Funeral Plan Insurance is underwritten by Pinnacle Life Insurance and is only available to Credit Union members.
Non-members are not eligible to apply for insurance cover.
There are also age restrictions in place regarding when a member can take up insurance cover.
They must be between the ages of 16 and 75 when they take up cover.
However there is no age cap, so the cover amount will be paid out on death of the member regardless of age; provided appropriate evidence of death is provided along with the completed claim form.
No medical information is required in order to take out this insurance cover, other than a question if the member has smoked in the last 12 months.
Up to 10 additional family members or friends can be insured.
The member can nominate the beneficiary of their choice, but in the absence of a named beneficiary, the claim payment will be made to the Estate. The beneficiary can also be changed at any time at the member’s request.
A Waiting Period is in place whereby the member cannot make a claim within the first 24 months of the policy commencing, unless their death is as a direct result of an accident.
If death during the Waiting Period is not as a direct result of an accident, a full refund of 100% of the premiums paid to date will be made.
This Waiting Period also applies when the member increases their level of cover.
